This gorgeous little work of art began as a thin, oddly shaped, twisted & cracked end piece. But Joe recognized from it's raw, broken form, that it contained that rare and beautiful shimmering wood grain that he loves so much!
So, into the drying stack it went for a few years.
Joe passed by this wood piece several times in his workspace before he decided how he wanted to bring out its beauty.
He showed me where to follow the grain and where to remove the unusable wood until this free form little sculpture took shape. Many of the cracks and twists that tell the story of the rugged life of this tree were left in the art with all of its perfect imperfections!
It was then sanded smooth thru several grits.
Finally, he burned in the details of stately rock mountain peaks and tree tops free-hand with his Razertip pen!
This piece is sealed with an organic beeswax coating to highlight all of its natural beauty!
